Why record at all?
Isn't a phone camera enough?
Let me share my ideology as both a musician and a filmmaker
Preservation
My vision is rooted in preservation.
Capturing certain moments in life professionally is the matter of preserving all the hard work, tears, sweat, and joy
that went into making those moments happen. It is your life's diary that you can be proud of and enjoy re-reading multiple times as you grow older.
It's even more important when multiple others can get the joy and insight reading and learning from your diary as well.
Many of the artists who shaped the twentieth century remain present to us today because their performances were recorded
with care and technical excellence.
Their work continues to educate, inspire, and move audiences not yet born at the time of the original performance.
Production Standards
Why do certain films and movies endure for generations?
Not because of budget alone, but because of deliberate craft: film cameras capable of capturing a full range of light and
shadow, sharp lenses, careful lighting, accurate sound capture, and thoughtful supervision at every stage of production.
The same principles apply to performance films and documentaries.
- Film or photo cameras with wide dynamic range and color fidelity
- Multiple angles that emulate cinema experience of the performance
- Lighting that enhances the clarity
- Microphone placement that preserves nuance and spatial realism
- Careful audio editing and mastering
- Natural, restrained color grading that avoids trends
When these elements align, a performance is not merely documented — it is preserved in a form that will remain watchable
and relevant for decades.
