Connecticut State Schools Choir
Production Approach
This performance was recorded at The Chapel of Holy Spirit at Sacred Heart University (Fairfield, CT). Choir students from several Connecticut state universities were presenting their acapella arrangements of various famous songs, culminating towards the end of the concert in appearing all together (over 200 people) on stage in joined combination for two pieces.
To establish good coverage of most of the students with such formation, 5 cameras were used for close ups and wide shots. For sound capture 4 microphones were used: a pair in the center and on each side to capture the voices of singers on far sides.
Two cameras on automatic rails were placed in the first row on each side, plus the manually operated camera in the left row close to the center for manual close-ups. Two more cameras were placed in the back of the chapel to get a wide shot and slightly zoomed in shot of the performers.
